Airtel Malawi, the country’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, has announced the commercial launch of 4G LTE services. To access the new network, which is currently available in the cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu, customers require a 4G compatible device and SIM card.
TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database states that the Bharti Airtel unit is the second cellco to enter the Malawi 4G sector; Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) switched on an LTE network in June 2016, following this up with an LTE-A launch in August 2017.
