Kenya Data Networks (KDN) has been rebranded as Liquid Telecom Kenya six months after Mauritius-registered Liquid Telecom Group acquired an 80% stake in its former owner, Altech. The new parent hopes to capitalise on Liquid’s vast infrastructure in East Africa in a bid to win business from international firms that have set up headquarters in Kenya or South Africa. Shahab Meshki, the CEO of Liquid Telecom Kenya, told the Business Daily Africa that the refreshed company hopes to recover lost ground in the Kenyan data market, where players such as Wananchi Group and AccessKenya have made inroads in recent years.
Liquid Telecom operates in around a dozen African countries including Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lesotho, Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and boasts a 15,000km cross-border network.
