Lenovo has appointed Marc Godin as Vice President and General Manager MEA to lead the company’s business in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, effective immediately. Marc succeeds Oliver Ebel who has moved to head up Lenovo’s smartphone business across EMEA including both Motorola and Lenovo smartphones and wearable technology.
Prior to this role Marc was VP of the UK & Ireland region where he took the PC business from 11.9% two years ago to today’s 18.2% and a clear #2 position. Most notably Marc led the charge in Lenovo’s consumer ambitions, presiding over a growth trajectory from a mere #5 in consumer PCs two years ago to today’s #2 position of 19.4%, more than doubling the market share in that time. Before his UK & Ireland role, Marc led the Enterprise and Public Sector business at Western European level. The role saw him spearhead the turnaround of the company’s commercial business – growing revenue ~55% in two years and turning a previously loss-making division into the most profitable business area at that time.
Commenting on his appointment, EMEA President and Senior Vice President Lenovo Group Eric Cador, said: “The MEA region continues to be a critical part of EMEA in terms of both our growth ambitions and the opportunity it presents. We are #2 in PCs with 19% market share; have a reinvigorated enterprise business following the acquisition of System x from IBM last year, and have an incredible platform for growth in mobile with both the Motorola and Lenovo brands in the region. Marc’s experience and track record of growing businesses is the perfect leadership we need in MEA to build on the success of Oliver.”
Marc’s 28 year career includes sales, marketing and supply chain leadership roles in both Lenovo and IBM across PCs, enterprise and public sector.
