Mobile Telecommunications (MTC), Namibia’s largest cellco by subscribers, has announced that it plans to roll out more than 500 telecom towers in rural areas of the country this year. The plans come as part of the company’s ‘081 Every1’ project, which officially launched in July 2017 with the aim of expanding and improving its network coverage across Namibia. MTC has now appointed 40 contractors to carry out the rural expansion project, with 17 different companies selected to be responsible for the supply, delivery and installation of base transceiver stations (BTS) required for the construction of 524 new telecom towers across the country.
