Orange Botswana, the country’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, has installed 25 live 4G LTE sites in Gaborone, and is set to increase the total in the capital to 40 in the near future, Mmegi Online reports, citing the cellco’s director of corporate affairs, Lepata Mafa. Orange, which announced the commercial launch of 4G services last month, is set to bring LTE network coverage to Francistown, Maun and Palapye shortly, and this will be followed by expansion to a further 30 towns and villages, including Mogoditshane, Tlokweng, Gabane, Oodi, Mmopane, Metsimotlabe, Thamaga, Jwaneng, Molepolole and Goodhope. ‘4G is rapidly changing mobile behaviour, with customers increasing their data usage – watching more television and video, using mobile office applications, real time video, streaming music, and other rich multimedia applications on the go,’ said Mafa. Orange has also introduced its own 4G-enabled smartphone, the Orange Roya, priced at BWP1,499 (USD151).
