Smile Communications Tanzania has announced that its 4G LTE mobile broadband network now covers ‘most parts’ of the capital Dar es Salaam, and that the high speed 4G data service is now available to all. Smile rolled out Tanzania’s first LTE network last year, launching trials in April and switching on commercial services for a limited number of customers at the end of May. A press release from Smile says that following more than a year of extensive testing and valuable feedback provided by what it calls ‘techno-savvy trial customers’, 4G LTEbroadband is now commercially available to the general public across the city, and will be rolled out in phases ‘across Tanzania over the next two years.’ The Smile group has a presence in five countries across Africa.
